Overview
Responsibilities
- Move rail vehicles within the manufacturing facility to support production, assembly, testing, and logistics operations.
- Operate overhead cranes to lift, move, position, or place machinery, railcar components, and equipment within the facility.
- Calculate load weights and verify that lifts remain within the rated capacity of the crane to prevent accidents or equipment damage.
- Perform safe coupling, uncoupling, and positioning of rail vehicles within designated shop areas.
- Ensure all crane and rail movement operations comply with company safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of cranes and lifting equipment to verify safe operating conditions.
- Perform basic maintenance checks on cranes and report any equipment issues or safety concerns.
- Work closely with supervisors, spotters, and production teams to coordinate lifting and rail movement operations.
- Maintain clear communication with team members during lifts and equipment movements.
- Follow all manufacturing quality standards, safety procedures, and work instructions.
- Maintain organized work areas around tracks, lifting zones, and production areas.
- Experience operating overhead cranes or heavy lifting equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to understand load capacities and safe rigging practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Willingness to complete specialized crane training provided by Stadler.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs when required.
- Ability to work around heavy equipment, moving rail vehicles, and industrial machines.
