Overview
Responsibilities
- Assemble and install electrical and mechanical components within railcars including wiring harnesses, control panels, lighting systems, passenger communication systems, HVAC equipment, and braking components
- Route and secure cables, install connectors, and perform grounding and electrical terminations
- Install mechanical assemblies including brackets, mounts, racks, panels, and structural components
- Use hand tools, power tools, and torque tools to assemble components according to engineering specifications
- Connect and integrate onboard electrical systems including power distribution, low-voltage control systems, and communication networks
- Perform continuity testing and verify electrical connections
- Conduct functional testing of railcar subsystems such as doors, lighting, control systems, and passenger equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during production and commissioning
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions
- Document work performed and report issues to engineering and quality teams
- Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing quality standards, participate in inspections, audits, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred
- Experience in electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical assembly in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in rail, transportation, aerospace, or heavy equipment manufacturing
- Knowledge of industrial wiring, cable management, and electrical systems integration
- Experience working with low-voltage or high-voltage systems
- Familiarity with quality standards and manufacturing processes
