Objective
Diagnose, repair, and restore electromechanical systems including electric motors, pumps, and related assemblies to operational standards while maintaining documentation and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Review work orders to identify job status, authorization limits, cost estimates, and reported malfunctions
- Conduct diagnostic testing on electromechanical systems using AC or DC testing methods to identify failures
- Disassemble equipment while documenting component identification, assembly configuration, and part condition
- Clean assemblies using parts washers, steam cleaners, caustic baths, glass beaders, and similar methods
- Measure and order appropriate replacement components through approved requisition processes
- Replace or rebuild defective parts including bearings, brushes, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, clutch rotors, tachs, fans, and end shields
- Perform post-repair testing to verify proper output and operational performance
- Complete job documentation accurately and within required timeframes
- Operate specialized diagnostic and repair equipment as needed
- Maintain organized and clean workspace
- Follow safety protocols and utilize required protective equipment (eye protection, hearing protection)
- Assist other mechanics and service personnel with tasks as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of hands-on apprenticeship program preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to learn and apply skill-based training and operational procedures
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds; stand and walk for extended periods
- Occasionally lift and move objects exceeding 100 pounds
- Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed
- Use hands for handling, gripping, and reaching tasks
- Clear vision at 20+ feet (with or without corrective lenses)
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Preferences
- Prior experience with electromechanical repair
- Familiarity with AC and DC testing equipment
- Background in motor rebuild or electromechanical troubleshooting
