Responsibilities
- Program and set up CNC lathes.
- Run initial setup to confirm smooth, stable operation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
- Use precision measuring instruments to verify part features against drawing specifications.
- Program parts using CAM/CNC programming software, fully utilizing tooling and machine capabilities to ensure consistent quality.
- Independently set up CNC lathes from a CNC program.
- Select, align, and secure work holding, cutting tools, and attachments to maximize tool life and job consistency.
- Instruct and train machine operators on newly set-up jobs prior to handoff to production.
- Follow established safety procedures and regulations during all operations.
- Monitor CNC lathe department operations to identify issues affecting production or quality; collaborate with management to resolve problems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Support training initiatives and assist team members with problem-solving as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 7 years of relevant experience, or State Journeyman papers
- Fanuc controls programming knowledge
- 3D CAD/CAM programming knowledge (Esprit experience preferred)
- Basic math proficiency
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and workflow demands
