Overview
System One is seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Designer to support industrial projects from concept through installation. This role will focus on developing detailed mechanical and structural designs, producing fabrication-ready drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution in active industrial environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical and structural design packages from concept through construction and installation
- Produce fabrication-ready drawings including:
- Dimensions and tolerances
- Weld symbols
- Material specifications
- General and detailed notes
- Incorporate field measurements, as-built conditions, and constructability considerations into design work
- Support layout development and equipment integration within active industrial facilities
- Coordinate directly with engineers, fabricators, and site personnel to resolve design, installation, and fit-up challenges
- Participate in site visits, field verification, and construction/start-up support as required
- Contribute to internal design standards, quality assurance processes, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Experience in industrial mechanical design; experience in steel or aluminum manufacturing environments strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of fabrication practices, welding standards, and industrial materials
- Proficiency with mechanical design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, and fabrication-ready drawing packages
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering teams, contractors, and plant personnel
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a small-team, high-responsibility environment
