CNC Machinist Lead 1st Shift
Operations & Workflow
- Oversee daily shop operations and maintain smooth workflow
- Set department goals aligned with company objectives
- Schedule and manage jobs, labor hours, and machine shop activities
- Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to keep work moving
- Ensure all jobs are fully prepared before production (tools, materials, programs, and setup instructions ready)
Technical & Process Support
- Create, review, and update CNC programs
- Assist with development of new parts, processes, and procedures
- Support CAD model creation and verify models and programs
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement, lean practices, and cost reduction initiatives
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all work meets company standards, policies, and procedures
- Verify all required paperwork is completed accurately
- Monitor quality of work and provide direction as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and support team members
- Participate in hiring and onboarding processes
- Manage employee performance and approve work hours
- Identify and track training needs
- Coach employees on tools, equipment, and job requirements
- Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment

Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in CNC programming, setup, and operation (mills and lathes)
- Leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Manufacturing or related field
- Experience with Mastercam, SolidWorks, or other CAD/CAM software
