Job Title: GIS Solar Field Designer

Work schedule includes full-time hours, typically 7:00 AM – 3:30/4:00 PM, with a hybrid schedule: onsite Tuesday–Thursday, remote Monday & Friday

Responsibilities
- Develop distribution system designs to support solar interconnections, including transformer upgrades, pole-to-pole, and pole-to-service upgrades
- Conduct on-site field assessments at residential and commercial locations to validate system conditions and project requirements
- Analyze maps, system data, and field findings to create detailed upgrade plans using GIS tools
- Collaborate with engineering teams to refine and finalize design solutions
- Prepare cost estimates and project documentation for proposed upgrades
- Manage multiple design and construction projects simultaneously
- Coordinate with internal teams and communicate directly with customers in both field and office settings
- Perform site visits and field validations as part of the project workflow
- Develop and update designs within GIS systems
- Balance fieldwork and office-based project work effectively
- May be required to work during storm response situations
Requirements
- Background in utility design, construction, or field staking
- Experience with GIS systems and SAP or similar tools
- Knowledge of utility construction (non-residential preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Prior experience with a utility company is a plus
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload
- Professional, customer-facing demeanor
