Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor a variety of precision machining equipment including grinding, slicing, drilling, milling, and CNC-based operations.
- Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish to required tolerances, typically ranging from .0008 to below .0005 depending on role level.
- Perform machine adjustments, tool changes, and basic program edits as required.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, quality, and process-related issues; assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to resolve production or quality concerns.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying efficiency, quality, and safety opportunities.
- Assist with preventive and autonomous maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability.
- Train, mentor, and support Operators and entry-level Machinists as appropriate to role level.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and production standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Machinist I: Typically, 1+ years of machining or manufacturing experience.
- Machinist II: Typically, 2+ years of machining experience with demonstrated ability to hold tighter tolerances.
- CNC operation experience preferred; G-code/M-code programming required for Machinist II roles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and quality documentation.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools.
