The Inspector/Liaison will be responsible to ensure that the client’s underground and buried construction projects meet the current standards through inspections, and corrections work performed by contractors. The Inspector will document all inspections and audits, and be expected to communicate via email, and cellular phone. At times it may be necessary to perform inspections and audits manually using printed spreadsheets.
Inspector/Liaisons of all levels will be expected to:
- Be the public face of the client. They will be taking calls and answering emails from the public and answering questions or finding answers to questions that the public presents
- Meeting with municipalities and permit authorities, when necessary, manage the client’s public perception where it relates to the various construction projects under the contractor’s purview.
- Visiting multiple construction sites each day to review and oversee progress and safety, reporting back to the client immediately on all safety issues, using all documentation and processes as required by the client.
- Reporting out at the end of each day via phone call and/or email on progress for each of the multiple sites.
In addition to the above, to qualify for OSP Inspector/Liaison II and III the contractor will need experience managing teams of fielders and/or construction sites and be comfortable with interfacing with client management and vendor management to correct and report safety issues, report on progress.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience fielding and performing safety inspections on telecommunications construction sites.
- Must be proficient in OSP Construction Standards
- Familiarity with the National Electric Safety Code.
- Has familiarity with NYSDOT Work Zone Traffic Control setups and administration
- Computer experience:
- Microsoft Windows XP, Excel 2003 or newer and Outlook
- Familiar and comfortable with internet usage, and web page browsing.
- Good communication skills.
- Personal time management and organization skills.
- Construction contractor management skills.
- Experience in managing teams of inspectors and their workflow
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel on short notice.
