Overview
System One is seeking a Sales Executive for a direct-hire opportunity in Houston. This position focuses on acquiring new shipper customers and growing a freight brokerage book of business. The ideal candidate has personally developed new transportation business through cold calling, email outreach, and relationship building, and understands how customer pricing, outside-carrier capacity, and gross margins work in freight brokerage.
Responsibilities
- Cold call potential customers and provide top-quality logistics solutions.
- Develop new shipper business through phone and email prospecting and consistent follow-up.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients to ensure continued business.
- Negotiate effectively with customers and manage client accounts.
- Develop competitive freight quotes and collaborate with operations and carrier teams to support service execution and profitability.
- Analyze and interpret general business data and reports.
- Present information clearly to managers, clients, and the public.
- Travel as needed to meet sales and client service objectives.
- Work after hours or on weekends as required by customer demands and seasonality.
- Minimum of two years of related transportation/logistics sales experience.
- Demonstrated experience personally prospecting and winning new shipper customers.
- Working knowledge of freight brokerage, including customer pricing, outside-carrier sourcing, and gross margins.
- Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Self-starter with a growth- and results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business data and reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM helpful.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
