Job Title: Scientist II – Tissue Processing & Histology
Location: Ridgefield, CT

Compensation: $35-40/hour depending on qualifications

Overview
This role supports laboratory research by executing advanced tissue processing, embedding, and staining techniques to generate high-quality samples for analysis. You will apply strong histology expertise to ensure reproducible results, collaborate on experimental design, and contribute to data interpretation in a research-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform tissue processing, embedding (paraffin and frozen), and sectioning to prepare samples for analysis
- Execute histological staining procedures, including immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), and related techniques
- Troubleshoot and optimize tissue preparation and staining protocols to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes
- Collaborate with researchers to support experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including procedures, results, and inventory tracking
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols, quality standards, and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Master’s degree in biology, biomedical sciences, or a related field (or bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience)
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in tissue processing, embedding, and histological staining in a research or clinical laboratory
- Proficiency in paraffin embedding, cryosectioning, and microtomy techniques
- Experience with IHC, IF, and other histological staining methods
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize laboratory protocols for reproducibility and quality
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in data interpretation and documentation
- Ability to manage multiple experiments and priorities in a lab setting
