About Us: Growing Maritime Services company north Houston is looking for a Staff Accountant to help support the team on a project basis.
Job Description:
As a Staff Accountant you will play a crucial role in our finance team, focusing on reconciliations and month-end close entries. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct reconciliations of bank statements, general ledger accounts, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Perform month-end close entries, including accruals, amortization entries, and other adjusting journal entries as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Support the Controller in audit preparations and liaise with auditors during audit processes.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as needed.
- Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings.
- Provide support in ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or related field.
- Strong understanding of reconciliations and month-end close processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Hybrid position (3 in office, 2 flex)
- Offering $30-35/hr depending on experience
