Staff Engineering Technician – AutoCAD Electrical (Substation Design Suite)

Overview

System One LLC is seeking a Staff Engineering Technician with strong AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) experience supporting substation design projects. This position fills an active staff vacancy and functions in a senior-level engineering technician capacity, supporting substation engineering and design teams.

This role is onsite only and requires prior substation industry experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced engineering technician and drafting functions with minimal supervision

• Create and modify substation design deliverables using AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) and Substation Design Suite (SDS)

• Apply engineering standards, document control procedures, and applicable codes

• Review design inputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance

• Support continuous improvement and quality assurance initiatives

• Develop drawings, material quantities, and basic estimates

• Coordinate deliverables with other engineering and design groups

• Support field activities and as-built documentation when required

• Provide technical guidance and work direction to junior staff as needed

Required Qualifications

• MUST have prior substation industry experience

• 3–5+ years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) in substation projects

• Experience with Substation Design Suite (SDS) strongly preferred

  • Candidates with ACADE + substation experience (but limited SDS) will be considered and trained

• Ability to work independently in a senior-level engineering technician role

• Strong understanding of electrical substation drawings, standards, and workflows

Candidates with AutoCAD Electrical only and no substation experience will not be considered

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology

• Technical Diploma or Certificate in a related discipline

• Experience supporting medium- to high-voltage substation projects

Work Location Requirement

• Must reside within 50 miles of a substation office

• Onsite attendance required — no remote or hybrid option
