Objective
Provide high-quality medical and surgical care to shelter animals, public clinic patients, and wildlife in a high-volume animal welfare environment. Deliver veterinary services through shelter-based clinics, mobile unit outreach, and community programs serving low-income and housing-challenged pet owners.
Responsibilities
- Perform medical and surgical care including sterilization procedures (pediatric and HQHVSN)
- Conduct diagnostics, dentistry, preventive care, and treatments
- Prescribe and administer medications, vaccinations, and anti-parasite treatments
- Perform euthanasia per established protocols
- Develop and implement veterinary care and disease control protocols
- Maintain medical records and controlled substance logs
- Provide on-call coverage for shelter and foster animals on rotating basis
- Participate in community outreach clinics and mobile unit events
- Supervise and train veterinary staff, students, and volunteers
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree
- Current state veterinary license or ability to obtain
- Valid driver's license
- USDA APHIS accreditation or ability to obtain
- DEA license or willingness to apply
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods

- Shelter medicine experience
- HQHVSN surgical experience
