Responsibilities
- Conduct research and product development activities in the food and pet food industry.
- Bring key skills and knowledge in generating new product ideas, processing concepts from idea to final production startup, and spearheading new technology development for extruded and injection-molded products.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and regulatory teams to develop product concepts.
- Work with Operations, Quality, and Regulatory teams to commercialize products, develop specifications, and arrange for guaranteed analysis.
- Review packaging proofs for package weight, ingredients, guarantee analysis, and claims; participate in package review processes.
- Source raw materials based on product requirements.
- Develop formulas and prototypes; conduct analytical tests, shelf-life studies, and clinical trials.
- Compile documentation for regulatory compliance and company policies.
- Perform product testing to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory adherence.
- Identify and implement manufacturing process improvements for efficiency and product quality.
- Ensure adherence to best practices, regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor and communicate pet food industry trends and their impact to management.
- B.S. or higher degree in Food Science or related discipline.
- Previous product development experience in the food/pet food industry.
- Working knowledge of FDA, USDA, AFFCO, and related regulations.
- Experience using Design of Experiments, statistical analysis, and interpreting results.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong communication skills.
