Overview
We have a client looking to hire an Electrical Engineer with strong substation experience to join their team.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of engineers responsible for executing projects in the substation utility sphere, coordinating resources and expertise with Renewables and Design Managers to successfully complete projects.
- Coordinate all technical activities on assigned projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety practices.
- Meet with clients to develop new business, maintain existing relationships, and ensure project requirements are satisfied.
- Monitor work for adherence to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices.
- Provide leadership for the substation engineering function by setting expectations, priorities, and performance standards. Establish accountability for project execution, safety, quality, schedules, and budgets.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables for compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers within a collaborative, high-performing environment.
- Plan and manage resources across projects to ensure efficient workload distribution and timely delivery.
- Ensure adherence to engineering processes, utility standards, safety procedures, and quality management systems.
- Support and guide design efforts in substation physical design, protection and controls, and communications/SCADA systems, including layout, equipment, protection schemes, relay settings, wiring, testing, and commissioning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in Substation or Power Distribution.
- Knowledge of substation configurations, system protection, power system analysis, renewable generation, utility interconnections, and renewable project development.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and communication protocols.
- Professional Engineer License highly preferred.
- Willingness to travel 10-30% for client visits and project site evaluations.
