System One has partnered with a growing construction services firm that is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations and support corporate finance initiatives. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financials and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
-
Manage Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Payroll (weekly), and job invoicing

Oversee general accounting functions, including month-end and year-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations

Partner with leadership and external CPA on corporate tax planning and compliance

Handle job costing and project accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of expenses and profitability

Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Support HR functions related to payroll, benefits, and employee onboarding as needed

Provide financial reporting and analysis to leadership, offering insights for operational and strategic decisions

Train and mentor staff on construction-specific accounting processes and systems
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track strongly preferred)

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to corporate tax

Strong background in AP, AR, payroll, and invoicing

Experience with job costing and construction industry accounting preferred

Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with leadership in a small-company setting
