Position Summary:
System One is seeking a CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to manufacture precision components. The ideal candidate can interpret prints and GD&T, select appropriate tooling and machining parameters, and perform in-process and final inspection to ensure quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to manufacture precision components
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications
- Select appropriate cutting tools, tooling, fixtures, and machining parameters for each job
- Load materials, establish work offsets, set tool offsets, and verify machine programs before production
- Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to ensure dimensional accuracy and product quality
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- Troubleshoot machining issues, tool wear, and equipment malfunctions
- Perform routine machine maintenance; keep equipment and work areas clean and organized
- Follow quality control procedures, safety requirements, and production schedules
- Maintain accurate production records and document inspection results as required
- Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve machining/manufacturing issues
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machining/manufacturing preferred
- Prior experience operating and setting up CNC machining equipment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and machining specifications
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques
- Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, speeds/feeds, and workholding methods
- Familiarity with CNC controls and G-code (Fanuc, Siemens, or similar preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and work independently in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow safety procedures and meet production requirements
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive machining tasks
- Ability to lift and move materials/components as required
- Ability to work around industrial machinery, metal chips, cutting fluids, and manufacturing equipment while following safety procedures
