Overview
A growing mid-sized organization is seeking a highly capable and hands-on Accounting & Finance Manager to lead day-to-day financial operations and support continued business growth. This role is ideal for a professional with strong controller-level capabilities—or someone on a clear path toward a Controller position—who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The position plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, driving process improvements, and partnering cross-functionally with leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee core accounting functions including billing, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and collections
- Manage and process payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Ensure proper sales tax reporting and compliance across jurisdictions
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations and financial statements
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts
- Coordinate with external auditors and CPA firm for tax filings and audit readiness
- Review and support pricing/quoting processes for financial accuracy
- Assist with HR-related coordination, including benefits and insurance administration
- Support service contract tracking and related financial analysis
- Evaluate and improve accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls
- Utilize advanced Excel for financial modeling, reporting, and decision support
- Partner with leadership and operational teams to support strategic initiatives
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial operations experience
- Experience working in small to mid-sized organizations (approximately $20M+ in revenue preferred)
- Background in retail, manufacturing, or product-based environments is a plus
- Full-cycle accounting experience across multiple functional areas
- Demonstrated ability to operate at a Controller level or readiness to step into that role
- CPA designation preferred but not required
- Advanced Excel skills, including modeling and data analysis
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new ERP/accounting systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
