Job Title: Clinical Research Contracts Manager
Location: Burlington, Ontario
Type: Contract - 1 year with potential renewal
Work Model: Hybrid – Must be onsite 50% of the month in Burlington

Joule is currently hiring a Clinical Budgets and Contracts Liaison. This role owns the full clinical trial budget lifecycle—building and forecasting budgets, negotiating terms, and processing payments. You’ll develop and negotiate investigator/institution contracts, consultant agreements, and grants, ensuring agreements are in place ahead of site initiation. The position partners closely with finance, legal, clinical operations, and external sites/vendors to maintain compliance with ICH/GCP and Health Canada requirements. Hybrid in Burlington, Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage external budgets for assigned studies, including budget development, negotiation, payment processing, and forecasting throughout the full clinical trial lifecycle
  • Develop budgets for clinical trials according to protocol requirements
  • Forecast trial budgets in line with corporate timelines
  • Review clinical trial budgets prior to submission for reimbursement
  • Incorporate Rx&D code of conduct principles into contractual agreements
  • Uphold global FMV process in budget development for all studies
  • Develop legally sound external contracts via timely and cost-effective negotiations
  • Create investigator/institution contracts, consultant agreements, and grants
  • Negotiate with investigators and institutional representatives to finalize study contracts

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or Business
  • 3+ years of practical experience in a Clinical Contracting environment
  • Strong knowledge of contracting concepts, applicable regulations, and legal terminology
  • Experience managing trial budgets from $1 million to over $10 million
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience in legal/contractual and budget activities
  • Proficiency with Veeva Clinical and Payment modules, and Grant Tracking system
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of ICH/GCP, Health Canada compliance, and Rx&D Code of Conduct
