Overview

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install electrical and mechanical components within railcars including wiring harnesses, control panels, lighting systems, passenger communication systems, HVAC equipment, and braking components
  • Route and secure cables, install connectors, and perform grounding and electrical terminations
  • Install mechanical assemblies including brackets, mounts, racks, panels, and structural components
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and torque tools to assemble components according to engineering specifications
  • Connect and integrate onboard electrical systems including power distribution, low-voltage control systems, and communication networks
  • Perform continuity testing and verify electrical connections
  • Conduct functional testing of railcar subsystems such as doors, lighting, control systems, and passenger equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during production and commissioning
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions
  • Document work performed and report issues to engineering and quality teams
  • Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing quality standards, participate in inspections, audits, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical assembly in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in rail, transportation, aerospace, or heavy equipment manufacturing
  • Knowledge of industrial wiring, cable management, and electrical systems integration
  • Experience working with low-voltage or high-voltage systems
  • Familiarity with quality standards and manufacturing processes
