Responsibilities
- Supports resolution of technical manufacturing issues, including those spanning cross-functional business processes.
- Implements Quality Control requirements in coordination with the Quality team.
- Documents and submits product improvement recommendations as appropriate.
- Improves product quality and lowers manufacturing costs by maximizing efficiency and developing optimal procedures using 6S and lean methodologies.
- Confirms new products can be manufactured cost-effectively prior to market launch.
- Develops and maintains SOPs and work instructions for manufacturing processes per established formats.
- Identifies strategic cost reductions that don't create offsetting cost increases elsewhere.
- Develops and maintains procedures ensuring product routings are complete, accurate, and reflect lean thinking, including appropriate use of time studies.
- Reduces existing manufacturing lead times.
- Reduces manufacturing lot sizes to lower overall inventory levels.
- Minimizes materials movement within manufacturing processes.
- Coordinates with other company facilities to align on manufacturing best practices.
- Provides technical support as needed.
- Develops databases, software applications, and other systems to measure key manufacturing performance metrics, define improvement strategies, and sustain gains.
- Directs outside vendors in designing and manufacturing fixtures for machining and assembly operations.
- Troubleshoots equipment and process issues as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required; BSME or BSIE preferred.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible manufacturing leadership experience, or equivalent education/experience, with a strong record of manufacturing operational improvements.
- Experience in fluid power or a related industry preferred.
- ERP experience preferred; SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to schedule and facilitate issue-related meetings required.
