Overview
Our client, a leading manufacturing organization in Oklahoma City, is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their growing team. This individual will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, cost accounting activities, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate has prior experience within a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of inventory and cost processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP.
- Support cost accounting activities such as standard costing, variance analysis, and bill of materials reviews.
- Analyze manufacturing performance metrics, production costs, and inventory levels.
- Perform daily accounting tasks including AP/AR support, bank reconciliations, and expense tracking.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits and internal controls.
- Partner with operations and manufacturing teams to understand cost drivers and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory accounting.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of GAAP and internal control practices.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with standard cost updates or BOM reviews.
- Prior involvement in process improvement or automation projects.
- CPA or progress toward certification is a plus (not required).
