Work Model: Hybrid with 2-3 days on-site
System One is actively seeking a Financial Analyst II for a long-term contract position supporting Xcel Energy’s Technology Services organization. This role will support a portfolio of technology projects and act as a liaison between project teams and various accounting functions including capital asset accounting, business area finance, and corporate accounting.
The Financial Analyst will work closely with project managers and portfolio coordinators to support financial tracking, accrual accounting, and project financial reporting within a regulated utility environment.
Responsibilities:
• Perform financial analysis in support of a portfolio of technology projects
• Support accrual-based accounting activities and month-end financial processes
• Pull and analyze project actuals and prepare as-built financials
• Assist project managers with financial tracking, reporting, and project financial performance
• Partner with accounting teams including capital asset accounting, business area finance, and corporate accounting
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, including variance reporting and financial summaries
• Support financial forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities
• Ensure compliance with financial processes within a regulated industry environment
• Work closely with portfolio coordinators, project managers, and accounting teams to support financial deliverables
Requirements:
• 3–5 years of Financial Analyst experience
• Experience supporting financial analysis within a regulated industry (utilities, banking, or government preferred)
• Strong financial and/or accounting background with experience supporting month-end activities
• Experience working with SAP, SharePoint, and Excel
• Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a project-based environment
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Preferred Skills:
• Experience supporting technology or capital project portfolios
• Familiarity with ServiceNow
• Experience with custom financial tools such as PowerPlan
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
