Job Title: Electrical Designer (Level 3)
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Type: Contract
Compensation: $40.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model: Onsite

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements and objectives
• Develop physical designs producing 3D models and design drawings, including system layouts
• Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD) to create and modify electrical drawings
• Maintain proficiency in design software and stay updated on software enhancements, or other applications
• Ensure that electrical designs adhere to industry standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements
• Conduct code reviews and updates as necessary
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and architects, to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs
• Address design-related issues and provide design solutions
• Create and maintain organized documentation of electrical designs, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs)
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for project deliverables
• Perform site walk-downs for field verification and to address constructability
• Perform quality checks and reviews of electrical designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project goals

Requirements

• Requires 7+ years of heavy industrial experience
• Experience as an Electrical Designer or a similar role, with proficiency in CAD software
• Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE)
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality designs
• Ability to collaborate within a team and with project stakeholders
• Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors
