Job Title: Project Accountant
Location: Onsite - Kansas City, MO (Headquarters & Project Sites)

System One is seeking a Project Accountant to support construction projects through accurate financial tracking, job cost reporting, and project close-out activities. This is a direct-hire, onsite role supporting both headquarters operations and active project sites.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or several years of relevant construction accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate job setup and organization with the Project Management team
• Set up approved subcontracts and purchase orders in Vista and review for accuracy
• Set up and review approved change orders
• Manage subcontractor compliance with contract terms, including bonds, insurance, waivers, and billing accuracy
• Prepare and submit required lien waivers for projects, subcontractors, and material suppliers
• Initiate subcontractor payments upon receipt of progress billing funds, coordinating with Project Management
• Review and maintain accurate project cost reports
• Generate and process monthly G702/G703 construction requisition billings in a timely manner
• Investigate unbilled project costs
• Maintain complete and accurate financial project files
• Assist with financial aspects of project close-out
• Provide requested project information to external parties
• Coordinate and assist with project-specific audits
• Support additional accounting and project needs as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Construction accounting experience
• Job costing experience
• Strong proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 3+ years of qualified work experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
